What is the Our Outdoors Survey?
The Our Outdoors survey has been designed to capture how various aspects of outdoor spaces affect our health and wellbeing.
The survey has been designed by both public health researchers at the University of Edinburgh and members of the public through a series of workshops and public engagement activities. The survey draws both on existing evidence available in scientific literature as well as the views and experiences of citizens.

Why take part in the survey?
Across the UK, there are huge disparities in the availability of good quality shared outdoor spaces. This survey will provide a tool for citizens, researchers and policy makers alike, to better understand how shared public spaces contribute to public health and how regions of the UK differ in term of access and distribution of health promoting spaces.
How we will use it
Your information is important
Citizen science is an opportunity for you to have a real say in the type of research that is undertaken and how the results are used. This can be an empowering and rewarding experience as well as contributing to your local and wider community. You’ll get the opportunity to meet and work with researchers, understand your community better, and develop skills. You will contribute to a national database, which will be used to improve outdoor spaces across the country.
